Today, I saw Chillar Party….what a heartwarming movie. So I am writing a bit of review and also my observations….
When you go to watch a movie and you get to see a master piece. Â That’s what I got see. `Chillar Party’ chokes you with emotions. Your eyes turn moist, with a smile rather smirk on your face! Â And you wonder, why did I take so long to write about it ?
Just wanted to really enjoy the movie….ponder and write about it. Â First of all it is so simple and beautiful story and screenplay. Â But then they say,,,,simple things are difficult to create.
Such a simple story, narrated with the heart at the right place. I doubt such simple and easy things are noted nowadays. We want glamour. We want dazzle. We want glitters.  But simple things tugging at your heart chords…..?????
A story of few children staying in a middle class housing society. And a juvenile destitute and his dog. How they resist his arrival and later be friends with him. Â And finally how they save the dog.
Story of an underdog ?
The drama at the end could have been little more tight and flashy, ( oh yeah, I wanted it to be simple, still asking for dramatic effect) As for performance, the kids didn’t perform at all.  Because they all lived the role. Whether `tapori’ Phatka or even his dog `Bhidu’. Name the characters – Silencer or Jhangia, Panvati or Encyclopedia – every kid in the team has lived the role.
Just watch and appreciate the little things of life. Â Life is too great
What worked wid chillar party was that it was a children film keepin d “children in mind” (not denying that it definitely had a msg or two for the adults as well…) that is the “connect” that is required in such movies”(read “jab rasna peeta hu toh orange hi hoti hai” and many more)..I have read some critics pan the movie but what many adults fail to see was that it was a movie “for the kids and by the kids”..Agreed that the climax cud have been crisper..d kiddos cannot be expected 2 undrstnd wt ws d actual msg hidden in wt d kids read from their textbooks..The kids as u mentioned are GEMS ( my personal fav Balwan Jhangia 😉 ) I am happy to know Salman wants 2 venture more in this territory of children movies..India needs sum good ones like dese..Carry on 🙂 !!!
