I feel may be its my discerning eye, ( or just plain luck ) , I keep getting so much for our Two Timers…

It was just a joke – by the goons – who call up `Singham’ (Ajay Devgn) stating that `Yahan…Murder chal raha hai’…and our unsuspecting hero rushes to the venue, just to find that the movie, `Murder’ is being played on the television screen. The goons have a good laugh at the cost of their lives.

still from Delhi Belly

The idea here – not how the hero bashes up the goons. But a film like movie, “Murder”, is being given tribute in `Singham’. Rohit Shetty and his team has done this before also. In `Golmaal’ , their paid their obeisance to Sanjay Leela Bansali’s master-piece, `Black’. And here in `Singham’, they go back to a flick like `Murder’.

Today, when we look back, we realise, “Murder” is like a cult-movie. One wonders, Rohit and his team gave thought to this point.

Though, Rohit Shetty has paid tribute to two different films in two of his directorial ventures – “Black” is re-enacted in “Golmaal”, the song `Bheege Hont Tere…’ from “Murder” is re-played in `Singham’.

Here, the idea is the song, “Bheege Hont Tere….’ from “Murder” is re-played in Indra Kumar’s `Double Dhamal’, starring Sanjay Dutt, Riteish Deshmukh, Mallika Sherawat.

Though, Mallika Sherawat is the common factor in both the movies, “Murder” and `Double Dhamal” – While in the original version the song was picturised on Mallika and Emraan Hashmi, in “Double Dhamal” it is playing in the background with Ashish Chowdhary and an ape. (The song was shown in the zoo).

So, two recent movies – “Singham” and “Double Dhamal” – with the spoofs of the same song from “Murder”, by the Bhatts.

Still from Double Dhamaal

Another incident that comes to mind – while watching “Double Dhamal” is a scene picturised in Horniman Circle area of Mumbai’s heartland. It is the scene where the quartet of Riteish Deshmukh, Ashish Chowdhary, Arshad Warsi and Javed Zaferi are trying to escape from the clutches of the `bhai’ played by Satish Kaushik.

The entire scene and situation is picturised in and around, Horniman Circle, the same spot where, another scene of similar nature is shown in “Delhi Belly”.

Yeah, that’s the cinematic liberty the film-makers take. Though, the film is shown to be set in heart of Delhi, the scene where Imraan Khan and his team of Vir Das, Kunal Roy Kapoor and Poorna Jagannathan are running from police, after they get their `diamonds’ back from the jeweller in a very tricky way.

The whole film and the scene is set in “Delhi”, but the film-maker chose to shoot that part of the movie in Mumbai’s `Horniman Circle’.

Quite a co-incidence. Re-visiting Mumbai in their own way…..

Keep Watching this post….Cheers
