Sujoy Ghosh directed `Kahaani’ is one of the intelligent and one of the best films of the year. The movie is all the way a Vidya Balan movie.
Undoubtedly, Vidya Balan has delivered a box-office hit. But the point here is two-timings or how there certain points which have repeat value. Two timings.
This is the second hit movie, Vidya had given in a short span. While many of the heroes are struggling to give hit and maintain their status on the box-office, this is the second movie where Vidya has given a consistent performance in the movie and also at the box-office.
This is the second film, where in Vidya has worked, where people or the citizen’s are woken up to the injustice to the masses. Like, in `No One Killed Jessica‘,(in the movie) people of Delhi and the whole nation come together. They woke-up to get justice for the family of Jessica. The candle march of the people is one of the high-light of the film.
In `Kahaani‘, the people of Kolkatta come in hordes to light the candle – again one of the high light of the film..
Can we call these two movies as -crusade movies ?
But in both the movies, it is Vidya Balan – whose character plays catalyst for the justice.
And fun or another element of the film, all the R D Burman numbers – whether in Hindi are Bangla playing very pivotal part in the background.
I doubt, how many have observed this – all the songs – whether in Hindi – sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar,(also one song by Asha Bhosle) or in Bangla are Panchamda’s compositions.
We all know that Sujoy loves / adores Panchamda and his creation. But this is the second time he has paid tribute the great composer.
Remember, `Jhankar Beats‘. Sujoy ‘s maiden venture. It was a full fledged tribute to R D Burman.
And here in `Kahaani‘ he has incorporated all Panchamda‘s numbers in the back ground. Created the mood for the film. Which also took care of background score of the film. But it was also a sort of tribute to one of the greatest composer’s of Indian film industry.
